Join us for a creative evening of clay and illustration! In this workshop, we ask everyone to please bring 1–2 of your own bisqued pieces to experiment on, or we can offer a handmade porcelain plate at an additional cost. We’ll kick things off with a demo on how Ashley builds her plates and adds a foot ring, showing an approachable way to handbuild without trimming.
From there, we’ll dive into the fun part—surface design! Ashley will share her favorite tips and tricks for painting with underglazes, layering colors for depth, and using liner pens for detail and linework. You’ll also get to try out playful techniques like watercolor effects, pointillism, and even underglaze transfers to give your pieces a one-of-a-kind look.
We’ll wrap up by refining your designs, brushing on a clear glaze, and celebrating your finished work. Whether you’re brand-new to clay or just looking for fresh inspiration, this workshop is a chance to explore, experiment, and enjoy bringing your illustrations to life on ceramic surfaces.
